Which Value Add Amenities Should You Add To Your Atlanta Rental Properties?

Are you thinking about upgrading your Atlanta rental properties?

Owning rental properties is a smart investment because they continue to offer excellent ROI even during times of economic instability but what can you do to add more value to your properties?

In this article we will share with you several value-add amenities that you should consider adding to your rental properties in Atlanta, or elsewhere in the United States.

#1 – Add A Bedroom

Having an extra bedroom in your rental property will always add value and make that property more appealing to renters because if the average renter has a family, they will be looking for a 3-bedroom, 2 bath home versus a home with 2 bedrooms.

You can’t create a bedroom out of anything but, the good news is that if your rental property has a bonus room or possibly a living room, you can convert one of those rooms into a bedroom or you can convert an attic space into a bedroom as well.

#2 – Finish The Attic Or Basement

As we mentioned above, you can add an extra bedroom by finishing the attic or you should consider finishing the basement as well because this will create another common area and eliminate the ‘scary’ basement that many people don’t like.

#3 – Open Up The Kitchen

If your rental property was built before 1990, the kitchen to that property is likely closed off from the rest of the home with walls. Since most renters favor open-concept floorplans, you should consider knocking down the non-load bearing walls that are separating the kitchen from the rest of the home to create an open concept floor plan.

#4 – Add Storage

It doesn’t matter if you own a duplex, single-family home, or small apartment building, storage matters because most people have two of everything today and often store their overflow items at an offsite storage facility.

The good news is that storage is cheap in 2020, you can easily invest in storage sheds, or similar portable buildings, to add storage to your rental property.
